A NOTE FROM FRANK

 

Hi, my name is Frank Leto and I have been a Montessori educator for over 50 years and have been presenting Montessori workshops at the AMS conferences for the past 30 years. I am an award-winning children’s composer with 11 albums of original, educational children’s music.

 

I just released a series of teacher training online courses focusing on classroom management and child development, introducing and incorporating music into the Montessori curriculum, and sharing my unique approach to music education based on Maria Montessori's method of teaching.

 

I travel the nation extensively, presenting keynote speeches and workshops at such educational conferences as the Music Educators Association, the Association for the Education for Young Children, the Orff Schulwerk Association and the American Montessori Society to name a few. My clinics promote my approach to imparting the love of music on to children. My interactive workshops for teachers are designed to provide classroom management strategies and provide daily lessons to incorporate into a Montessori curriculum, so teachers enter their classroom with a new sense of confidence. With newly learned skills they enthusiastically return to the classroom and enrich the children's musical environment.

Introducing Pitch and Melody

With this 50-minute course, I walk you through the basic musical concept of pitch and melody. Through a series of fun group presentations, children are introduced to high & low, pitch discrimination (ear training) and solfeggio (Do Re Mi). I provide demonstrations and instructions on how to utilize slide whistles, hand bells, boom whackers and glockenspiels and incorporate activities to demonstrate and further children’s understanding of pitch and melody. You don’t need to be a musician to introduce these concepts to children. Gain the confidence and knowledge to bring these lessons into your classroom and give your children the gift of a musical foundation!
